While I took the helm in fall of 2011 as Editor-in-Chief, and new members came aboard as others stepped back, the managing editorial team at Imaginations has continued to work collaboratively, harking back to its political foundations. There is no doubt that the journal has survived these first five years due entirely to the dedicated efforts of the managing editorial team of the last several years, namely Carrie Smith-Prei, Andriko Lozowy, Daniel Laforest and myself. Likewise, Elicitations, our reviews section of the journal, has flourished under the editorship of Tara Milbrandt. The managing editorial team has recently welcomed two new members: Brent Bellamy and Kay Rollans. Readers who have been with us since the beginning will notice that this issue is being launched on a new website; with the technical and design support of Nadine Adelaar and Jonathan Dyck respectively, Brent Bellamy, as our new Web Editor, has brought the journal a fresh online look. These changes exceed the visual to include a more clearly articulated mandate and publishing process—all of which is available in both English and French thanks to the translation efforts of Aurélie Lesueur. Likewise, the changes to the journal extend more broadly to include the technical aspects of raising the journal’s publishing profile and visibility. Over the last several months, Kay Rollans and I have also been working with University of Alberta Libraries and independent contractors to augment the journal’s online digital presence and impact factor. Ultimately, we are working to ensure that readers can freely find us online and that authors who publish with Imaginations, without charge, receive the views and citation indexes their work merits.

—

Furthermore, as readers will note, this Spring issue, which focuses on National Film Board and Canadian documentary films, is Imaginations’ first front-to-back French-language issue. Issue 6.1 marks a significant accomplishment for Imaginations as we aim to increasingly attract and publish French-language content, and to reach a larger Francophone readership.
