It is <strong>published twice yearly<\/strong> and is anonymously peer-reviewed. As a knowledge democracy project, <i>Imaginations<\/i> is free to submit to and free to read. Founded at the University of Alberta in 2010, the journal is funded by the federal granting agency of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i>Imaginations <\/i>showcases artistic work and scholarly research. It focuses on innovative artistic practices and interdisciplinary, intercultural theoretical understandings of images, screens and visual culture. The journal provides an online installation venue for original artwork and publishes academic articles in original languages and translated into French or English.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Visual culture practices and scholarship come together in <i>Imaginations<\/i>. Here, high-caliber, international and intercultural research informed by national histories and linguistic traditions creates a new vocabulary to address the notion of the image and its many avatars. Researchers and visual artists, each reflecting on their own practices, revealing new insights into the interlacing of academia and visual culture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elicitations<\/strong> is the journal\u2019s reflection and review section. It features work about visual culture such as books, exhibits, film, social movements, and so on. Contributions are accepted on a <strong>rolling basis<\/strong>. Starting January 1, 2023, new content will be published on the <strong>first of each month<\/strong> for two years.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"sixcol last\"><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Imaginations : Revue d\u2019\u00e9tudes interculturelles de l\u2019image<\/em><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Imaginations<\/strong> est une revue plurilingue \u00e0 acc\u00e8s libre sur les \u00e9tudes visuelles. <strong>Publi\u00e9e deux fois par an<\/strong>, notre revue dispose d\u2019un comit\u00e9 de lecture par des pairs en anonyme. Cr\u00e9\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de l\u2019Alberta en 2010, cette revue est financ\u00e9e par le Conseil de Recherche en Sciences Humaines du Canada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i>Imaginations<\/i> offre une vitrine \u00e0 des \u0153uvres artistiques et \u00e0 la recherche universitaire. Centr\u00e9e autour de pratiques artistiques novatrices et interdisciplinaires, de compr\u00e9hensions interculturelles et th\u00e9oriques d\u2019images, les \u00e9crans et la culture visuelle, la revue offre un espace d\u2019exposition en ligne pour des \u0153uvres d\u2019art in\u00e9dites et publie des articles universitaires dans leur langue d\u2019origine ainsi que traduits en fran\u00e7ais ou en anglais.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Pratiques culturelles visuelles se m\u00ealent \u00e0 \u00e9rudition dans <i>Imaginations<\/i>. Ici la recherche internationale et interculturelle de haut niveau, inform\u00e9e par les histoires nationales et les traditions linguistiques, cr\u00e9ent un nouveau vocabulaire avec lequel adresser la notion d\u2019image et ses multiples avatars. Chercheurs et artistes visuels, chacun r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissant \u00e0 ses propres pratiques, entrent en conflit dans <i>Imaginations<\/i> et commencent \u00e0 se refl\u00e9ter les uns les autres. Ces \u00e9changes culturels et disciplinaires donnent naissance \u00e0 de nouvelles conversations et r\u00e9v\u00e8lent les parall\u00e8les, les diff\u00e9rences et les tensions potentielles d\u2019o\u00f9 \u00e9mergent de nouvelles observations sur l&#8217;intersection de la culture visuelle et du monde universitaire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Elicitations<\/strong> est la section de r\u00e9flexion et de critique de la revue. Elle pr\u00e9sente des travaux sur la culture visuelle (livres, expositions, films, mouvements sociaux, par exemple). Les contributions sont accept\u00e9es sur <strong>une base continue<\/strong>. \u00c0 partir du 1er janvier 2023, le nouveau contenu sera publi\u00e9 <strong>le premier de chaque mois<\/strong> pendant deux ans.<br \/>\n<\/div><div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div><br \/>\n<\/div><div class=\"cb-tab-content\"><div class=\"sixcol first\"><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><i>Imaginations<\/i><i>\u2019<\/i> mission is to:<\/h5>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Bridge communities of artistic visual practice and academic scholarship;<\/li>\n<li>Create a knowledge democracy venue for the image;<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate high-quality works of art and scholarship to a diverse reading publics; and<\/li>\n<li>Explore the ways in which visual culture is transforming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i>Imaginations <\/i>publishes scholarship that makes form part of its message, and our digital platform makes this possible. <i>Imaginations<\/i> publishes scholarship that embeds images and video-clips in academic articles, connecting with the accessibility of current visual and textual culture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We encourage contributors to submit works that embed high-quality media, and to make their work accessible to an academic and general reading public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We welcome submissions from artists and writers coming from academia and other communities of practice: curators, freelancers, art and media journalists, visual designers.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"sixcol last\"><\/p>\n<h5>Le mandat d&#8217;<em>Imaginations\u00a0<\/em>est le suivant :<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Cr\u00e9er un pont entre les communaut\u00e9s d\u2019art visuel et le monde universitaire;<\/li>\n<li>Cr\u00e9er pour l\u2019image un espace de connaissance d\u00e9mocratique;<\/li>\n<li>Diffuser des travaux artistiques et d&#8217;\u00e9rudition de haute qualit\u00e9 pour un lectorat vari\u00e9 et<\/li>\n<li>Explorer les diff\u00e9rentes mani\u00e8res dont la culturelle visuelle \u00e9volue de nos jours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i>Imaginations<\/i> publie des travaux d\u2019\u00e9rudition qui int\u00e8grent leur format \u00e0 leur message et notre plate-forme num\u00e9rique rend cela possible.
